The Next Generation of Cooling Refrigerants.

Stored in your air conditioner’s coils, refrigerants are liquids that cool and dehumidify your air. If we didn’t have refrigerants, we wouldn’t have air conditioning. For a long time, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be legal to produce because of its destructive impact to the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo reduce environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now engineered to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and contains no chlorine, making it ozone-friendly. You can feel great about using this refrigerant in Safford because it’ll help make your AC perform efficiently, reliably and quietly, and provide the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was built before 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You may want to think about upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is ultimately phased out. The old refrigerant will become rare in the next few years, costing you more to use your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at B&D Air Conditioning work with R-410A, so you can rest assured we have an AC or heat pump you can better rely on. Additionally, refrain from using”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
